Electrical panel & service upgrades
Your panel is the heart of your home’s electrical system. Older panels, and homes that have added heat pumps, an EV or a kitchen remodel, often need more room or more capacity.

What Wayne can help with
- Replacing outdated or worn breaker panels
- Adding space for new circuits
- Service upgrades for heat pumps, EV chargers and additions
- Labeling circuits so you know what each breaker does
Signs it may be time
- Breakers trip often, or you’ve run out of spaces
- The panel is warm, buzzing or shows rust or scorch marks
- You still have screw-in fuses
- You are adding a big load such as a heat pump, EV charger or new kitchen
Questions
Does a panel upgrade need a permit?
Yes. In Massachusetts, electrical work done for hire requires a permit filed with your town’s inspector of wires (M.G.L. c.143, §3L), and the work is inspected.
Will I lose power during the work?
Usually for part of the day while the panel is swapped. Wayne will tell you what to expect before work starts.
